husky sombrero

Husky Sombrero (Shannon) started playing the saxophone at age 10. He hated every minute of it until he stopped playing it at age 16. He now wishes he had continued playing the saxophone, but don’t ever tell his dad. After a long affair with heavy music and mildly fringe music (that turned into a deeper obsession with industrial, noise, power noise, rhythmic noise and even more obnoxious music) and also his failure to exceed at being an illustrator or comic book artist, he decided to try his hand at creating sonic art and soundcapes as well as teaching himself to be an only slightly less than adequate drummer. What developed was an extremely fulfilling journey into making non-commercial material for his own enjoyment that is put out in the electronic ether in case someone wants to give it a quick listen before moving on to more important developments. Along the way he has created musical partnerships and collaborations a few of which are:

-PlataPi Circus: with great local bassist Jay Stewart

-The Eugenics Council as a touring disruptor and agitator, where he was introduced to Power electronics proper by way of DN and Rosemary Malign

-Dyeirehne – with Jay Stewart on guitar, the amazing Shualee Cook on vocals, and the ever-creative Sheeran Meatte on bass.

-Icarus Oldman Circus, (which at one point was also known as Josie Jupiter and Lazlo Moonrock among other things) – a large swath of genre-defying work spanning innumerable years that blossomed from the collaborations with the otherworldly, goddess-like, irrepressible force that is Shualee Cook.

-Any number of projects or creations with the incredible and remarkable writer and artist Rosemary Malign.

-The Prairie Dogs: a creative expulsion of whatever-we-could-find-and-put-to-tape with the naturally-gifted Sheeran Meatte.

The Ursula Gunn: The focal point for all interpretations of the world around Husky (Shannon). Good, bad, disastrous, or ugly (mostly ugly) put into an audio format that runs the lines of industrial, noise, disrupted rhythms and cacophonous atmospheres utilizing whatever synthesizers, drum machines, effects units, broken electronics, junk metal, unsanitary detritus, etc. he can get his hands on.

-Paradoxal Pterodactyl: Husky was honored to be asked to be a contributor to the sonic theatre of PP by longtime pal and amazing creator Davelybob. With the additional blessing of the incredible Chad Pterodactyl, Husky has found a critical outlet for more sample and fringe based mayhem that was missing from his other outlets.

He has two poor children and a wife with an EdD, who he loves endlessly and completely, but who suffer his foolishness until a time when his disappearance and subsequent disposal will arouse no suspicion. He also ropes them into PP much to their chagrin.

He still likes trying to play the sax sometimes as well.
